Description
The Price Creek-Amana Colonies Urban Conservation and Water Quality Education Project Phase 1 is the first step in implementing a large scale Best Management Practice Demonstration and Education site in the Amana Colonies and the Price Creek Watershed. Phase 1 of the project includes permeable surfaces and bioretention cells to treat storm water runoff at the Amana Colonies’ Visitor’s Center Complex parking lot. Future phases include expansion of the permeable surface and the addition of a suite of best management practices that demonstrate a wide variety of options for stormwater treatment.
The concurrent Price Creek Watershed Project will be implementing agricultural best management practices in the surrounding area, providing a unique opportunity to promote both urban and rural conservation at the same location.
