Saturated Buffer
Description
Saturated buffers have underground pipes that divert tile-drained water through a vegetated buffer. The vegetative buffer removes sediment, phosphorous and pesticide run-off, while creating a wildlife habitat.
Benefits
Existing buffer removes sediment, phosphorus and pesticides and provides wildlife habitat.
Up to 50 percent of nitrates may be removed through denitrification and plant up-take.
